Scholarships

We want every child to have the opportunity to experience all that our farm has to offer. As a result of this, we offer need-based scholarships. Scholarships are awarded for one week of Rainbow or Trailblazer Farm Camp.

Essential Eligibility Criteria & Supports we offer

Participants wishing to attend in any programs at Sunrise Community Farm Center must have mastered the following milestones in order to ensure their success:

  • the ability to participate in supervised group activities with 5-12 participants

  • the ability to eat a meal, change clothes, and use a port-a-jon independently without 1:1 supervision

  • the ability to use supports such as reset times, noise-cancelling headphones, fidgets, or other behavior strategies independently with minimal supervision in a 5-10 minute period.

It is our desire to partner with you to work together so that activities will be a positive experience, suitable for all participants prior to enrollment. Please note, our programs are not a rehabilitative or therapeutic program. As a community farm-based education center we do not specialize in serving those with special needs, including mental, emotional, social, behavioral, or motivational difficulties. Safe participation in our programs requires certain physical, mental, emotional, and social health abilities, and we are therefore limited in the types of accommodation we are equipped to provide. These requirements are non-negotiable and enforced to maintain the quality of our programming to all participants. If you have questions about a specific support that is not listed above, please give us a call at (919) 968-8581 or email me directly at admin@sunrisecfc.com so that we can assist you. â€‹

Horse-Immersion Requirements

Participants wishing to attend in Horse Immersion are required to have mastered a basic level of skill in horsemanship, including;

  • the knowledge of and ability to tack up their own horse with minimal supervision, and

  • the ability to ride a minimum of three different horses at a walk and trot without a leader, and

  • the willingness to cheerfully contribute to barn chores so that the barn is maintained well and always ready for the next group's use.

These requirements are non-negotiable and enforced to maintain the safety of our instructors, well-being of our horses, and safety and health of our participants. Any rider who signs up for Horse Immersion without meeting these requirements will be moved to Pony Immersion if available. If Pony Immersion is full or unavailable, the rider will be moved to another camp without a refund.
